Former LSU golfer John Peterson captures Tour playoff money title

With his PGA Tour card in hand for the 2014 season, John Peterson said he almost considered skipping the final Tourevent last weekend and heading to Athens, Ga., for the LSU-Georgia game. He’s glad he didn’t now.

Peterson, a former LSU golfer who lives in Baton Rouge, captured the Tour playoff money title by finishing tied for second in the Tour Championship at Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on Sunday. Peterson, who had four top five finishes in the four-event payoff, won $230,000 in the four tournaments.

With that, he earns full exempt status on the PGA Tour next year, which includes a berth in the Tournament Players Championship in May and other select PGA Tour events.
