About John

Professional golfer John Peterson was born on April 18, 1989 in Fort Worth, Texas. He played collegiate golf at Louisiana State University. During his time at LSU, he was a three-time All-American and amassed two victories, including the 2011 NCAA Division I Championship.  John is a PGA Tour Rookie in the 2013/2014 Season with Fully Exempt Membership.

John turned professional in 2011 upon graduating from LSU. He played in two Web.com Tour events, including a T2 finish at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational. Via sponsor’s exemptions, he has played on the 2012 PGA TOUR.

Through sectional qualifying, Peterson qualified for the 2012 US Open. He was paired with mentor and fellow LSU alumnus David Toms. Peterson finished the tournament T4, and that earned him exemptions to the 2013 Masters Tournament and US Open.

Peterson became the first active Web.com Tour member to compete in the Masters in 2013.  John made the cut at both the Masters and US Open in 2013, while going on to win the WEB.com Tour Finals Money Title.  He finished the 2013 WEB.com Tour Season with five straight Top-5 Finishes (3rd; 5th; 3rd; 3rd; 2nd).

Peterson played 25 events on the PGA Tour during the 2014-15 season, finishing 105 on the Fed-Ex Cup. His season included 19 of 25 cuts made, and seven Top-25 finishes. A wrist injury and subsequent surgery limited his starts in 2016 until late the fall. Through diligent rehab Peterson has fully recovered and will be a full member of the PGA Tour for the 2016-17 season.

His mother, Jan, is a graduate of LSU and two of his siblings also attended LSU.
